Benefits

An NTF Roadmap provides a common vision and action plan for trade facilitation agreed by all key stakeholders. The process of developing the NTF Roadmap, and the actual Roadmap itself, has many benefits. For example, it:

• enhances engagement and buy-in from all key stakeholders through the consultation process
• reinforces the political commitment (Political Will) needed for TF reforms
• enhances the continuity of this support should there be a change in government
• provides a governance structure for the overall management of TF reforms
• provides a structure for implementation of the provisions of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.
• helps ensure that all key players in the public and private agencies are moving in the same direction on the TF programme
• assists in the preparation of, and/or provide support to, proposals to international donors for technical assistance to implement specific elements in the Roadmap
• provides pre-agreed internal and external performance indicators to assist in measuring and evaluating roadmap progress.
