Montreal Convention
Formerly the Warsaw Convention, the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules for International Carriage by Air (Montreal Convention) uniforms and harmonizes important rules for the cariage of passenger and cargo by air. Most importantly, the Montreal Convention paves the way for the electronic equivalent of the paper air waybill, the commercial contract for the carriage of cargo between shipper and air carrier. The convention entered into force on 4 November 2003. As of July 2010, 97 countries have acceded to this convention.
