CEN e-invoice

The Core e-invoice is part of the deliverables undertaken by CEN on behalf of the EU Commission and provided free of charge for downloading from their webpage on e-Invoicing. The Core e-Invoice Project team called MUG created a subset the Cross Industry Invoice (CII) which contains about 40 of the most common elements businesses throughout the EU. As well as providing schema, they also provide Message Implementation Guidelines (MIG), which include xml style sheet transformation (XSLT) that can be used to visualise the XML in a layout similar to the UN Layout Key format. This is important since the new VAT Directive coming into force across the EU in 2013 requires that e-Invoices must be capable of being visualised by auditors.
